This is an internal R&D project at Mode Lab that leveraged the integration of Generative AI into an Advanced Product Creation Pipeline. Inspired by natural forms, this workflow showcases the speed and breadth of creativity that is unlocked when combining the powerhouse of procedural modeling with the speed of generative AI. Imagine a track shoe inspired by an iridescent beetle. Images generated from Midjourney were utilized for concepting, look development, procedural growth, texturing and displacement of the outsole, as well as the material design of the shoe's upper, and even the environment and lighting in the scene. Modifying the prompt and therefore image output would update the design procedurally for all downstream generation allowing rapid ideation and look development and a breadth of output not possible with traditional design workflows.
