description
This project, completed at Mode Lab, showcases some of the capabilities of performance texturing of a footwear outsole asset using procedural modeling in Houdini. This is displacement of a high resolution mesh in real-time so analysis of volume, thickness and other DFAM attributes can be analyzed downstream. Through a combination of image maps, geometry attributes, mathematical functions, visual graphs, and direct painting on the asset, procedural modeling allows for a wide breadth of design options while still maintaining a high level of control in a product design context.
